Footnote
November 5, 2016
duration: 15 hours
location: Pre-Function Terrace, Marriot City Center, Minneapolis
materials: charcoal briquettes, string, urn, ice
Ghosts sigh loudly against my cheekbone, run their fingers through the biting Minneapolis wind….Look down. Up. Down again.
In Footnote, I slowly poison myself by ingesting charcoal through the slow choreography of looking down. The performance investigates social death and habits of spectatorship.
Footnote is the second of three durational performances engaging feminist and queer lineages. The first work in this series, Citation, was an act of remembering. Footnote confronts social amnesia and quick glances.
